Emerge
There are paintings that arrive slowly; I spend days thinking about how to give them form. And then there are others that simply emerge. This piece belongs to that second category. It came to me silently, insistently, asking to be seen.
Collectors often ask me where a painting begins. With a sketch? With a memory? With a color? This one began with a sensation: the nostalgia of the desert, and the idea of the ancient—laden with wisdom.
As I worked the acrylics onto the canvas, I returned again and again to the image of a solitary figure. I felt her to be both human and mythical—a guardian of the night who knows the secrets of the earth. The desert shaped her. The owl became her companion—a symbol of intuition, of seeing what others overlook.
And upon finishing it, I was inspired to write a poem. Short, yet filled with everything I wished to honor: the spiritual, the natural, the mysterious. This painting carries that energy. It speaks of that instant when something significant rises up to meet you—a truth, a memory, a part of yourself you had left behind.
Those who connect with "Emerge" tend to be people who value symbolism, silence, and works of art that hold a story. They seek pieces that feel alive—works that continue to reveal themselves over time.
And that is precisely what this piece offers.
It is a reminder that even in the most silent of landscapes, something is always blooming. That ancient wisdom still moves through the world.
