This painting began years ago as a small drawing—an idea I carried quietly while life asked me to wait. Time passed, responsibilities shifted, and the sketch rested until I was finally able to return to it. Creating this larger version felt like opening a door I had once closed, a reminder that dreams can pause without disappearing.
Alongside the painting, I wrote a poem about that waiting: the distance between desire and possibility, and the moment when we finally gather the courage to move toward what we love.
Hummingbird of free soul, you fly as high as my prayers.
You wait for the sunlight to reflect your colors and seek out the nectar of the flowers;
how I long to go in search of my dreams and my loves.
In a flutter of wings you appear in an instant, your plumage shining like gemstones.
Are you made of jade? Or sapphire? Or are you the sun itself?
Tell me—what is your favorite flower, and what scent conquered your heart.

Esperas a que llegue la luz del sol para reflejar tus colores e ir a buscar el néctar de las flores;
